Known across the United States, Kevin J. Conway is a trial lawyer whose area of practice includes catastrophic injury, mass tort, mesothelioma and wrongful death cases. He and his firm have settled or tried cases that total billions of dollars. In a large series of cases, he and the Cooney & Conway team settled 177 asbestos cases at trial for more than $200 million.
Some major settlements and trial victories that Conway has achieved for victims include serious illnesses or injuries and wrongful deaths that resulted from:
- asbestosis;
- illnesses from toxic chemicals and drugs;
- mesothelioma, a disease caused by asbestos;
- negligent actions and product liability;
- professional negligence;
- safety violations and failures at construction sites; and
- transportation incidents such as elevator free falls, bus and truck accidents, plane crashes, shipwrecks and train accidents.
Kevin J. Conway graduated from Loyola University of Chicago School of Law with Bachelor of Arts and Juris Doctor degrees. He and his Cooney & Conway partners have gifted a Professorial Chair in Advocacy at the university, which is named The Cooney and Conway Chair in Advocacy.
Conway is the previous president of The Illinois Trial Lawyers Association. Along with being a member of the International Society of Barristers, he is a member of the American College of Trial Lawyers, an organization that limits its fellows to only one-quarter of 1 percent of trial lawyers in the country.
As a guest on local and national television programs and radio shows, Conway has discussed serious personal injury law and civil case trials. He has given testimony at legislative hearings several times for proposed legislation involving asbestos-related diseases and mesothelioma as well as the effect that legislation would have on the victims’ rights.
Conway has lectured other lawyers in numerous states on the law regarding mesothelioma and personal injury as well as about trial practice. Lawyers across the country have asked him to help represent their mesothelioma clients.
Among a group of lawyers who were nominated for Trial Lawyer of the Year in Washington, D.C., Conway was a finalist. Additionally, he is on the list of Top 100 Trial Lawyers in the country, and his peers have voted him a Super Lawyer and a Leading Lawyer. His Illinois peers in the Leading Lawyers Network have also named him in the top 10 of personal injury lawyers.
